Rising Star
By Jenny Peters
Exclusive to the Port Alexander Times

Putting crime in a deep freeze or chilling a fire to help firefighters, Siberian Star is everywhere these days.

I caught up with the Soviet Superstar shortly after he and the Protectors saved the city from the onslaught of the company. I asked him if he could give us any insight into his powers. He told me "The pride of the Russian people lie in their strength and resilience in a harsh land. I have harnessed the fury of the Siberian plains into an icy arsenal. With temperatures reaching far below zero I can create walls, bridges, and even prisons out of ice while soaring over Port Alexander. There are no limitations or obstacles that I cannot overcome, which means freedom for the good citizens of Port Alexander and an end to those who would prey on the weak."

That sounds like good news! But what motivates someone to go out and fight crime? I asked a simple question and got a history lesson, but what a history! "Decades ago Soviet Star was an arm of the Communist Party," SS said," maintaining, order by terror under Kremlin command. Today Siberian Star has been called to right the wrongs perpetrated by this exploited genius and bring honor not only back to the Russian legacy of science but to assure liberty and freedom here. The road to redemption is long, and the journey begins now. I encourage all the citizens of Port Alexander to enlist Siberian Star in their struggle to take back their city from the criminals."

The liberation of Port Alexander from the yoke of the Companay was the first time Siberian Star had fought side by side with the Protectors. I wondererd if there was a reason for that.

"I came to the Protectors aid when they needed me and I would be honored to assist them again in the future," was the Russian Righter-of-Wrongs reply. "Fighting crime and defending virtue is not a monopoly and as long as we hold to the same goals I am sure we will continue to cross paths. My sidekick Flex and I have a good working relationship with all defenders of freedom."

I don't know about the rest of you, but knowing Siberian Star is out there keeps me a little warmer inside, even when the weather outside is frightful.
